Manchester United hit stumbling block in pursuit of Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot

According to a report from L’Équipe, Manchester United remain interested in Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot (29), however, a move could prove difficult to pull off.

Manchester United’s interest in Rabiot is long-standing. The Premier League side have been linked with a move in successive windows without a deal ever being completed. However, this summer represents a perfect opportunity. The Frenchman’s contract with Juventus is expiring and it is not yet clear whether he will renew.

Whilst L’Équipe confirm that the Red Devils retain their interest in the midfielder, the move has hit a stumbling block. More than anything, Rabiot wants to compete in the UEFA Champions League next season, something that Juventus can offer but that Manchester United cannot. Saturday’s FA Cup final victory over Manchester City ensured UEFA Europa League football for Erik Ten Hag’s side next season.

Rabiot wishes for his future to be decided before the upcoming Euro 2024 tournament. Juventus’ participation in the Champions League, as well as the Frenchman’s strong relationship with former Paris Saint-Germain player and soon-to-be Juventus manager Thiago Motta, could see him extend at the Serie A side. Negotiations to this end are ongoing.
