The search for Lille OSC’s next manager has seen the club hierarchy discuss the position with Jorge Sampaoli.
According to Sacha Tavolieri, the former Olympique de Marseille manager was contacted by Lille last week who discussed the job opportunity with his entourage.
Despite discussing the role with Sampoali’s representatives, Bruno Génésio remains the prime target for Lille and is in pole position to take over after Paulo Fonseca leaves the club.
Sampaoli has not managed in France since leading Marseille to a second-place finish in the 2021/22 season. The Argentine manager famously left the club due to his frustrations with their financial inability to compete with Paris Saint-Germain for league titles.
Last December, Sampaoli had been linked with a return to Ligue 1 at the helm of Olympique Lyonnais. However, they ultimately passed on offering him the role due to the promise that was being shown by Pierre Sage.
