As announced by Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso at the pre-match press conference, Matej Kovar starts in goal at the expense of captain Lucas Hradecky.
Patrik Schick and Victor Boniface both start on the bench for Leverkusen, with Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz set to play behind Amine Adli up front.
Former Bundesliga players Sead Kolasinac and Ademola Lookman start for Atalanta.
