West Ham United captain Declan Rice’s future will be talked about next summer, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth believes.

The 23-year-old, who The Telegraph say could cost £70m, started every game of England’s 2022 World Cup campaign and could be eyeing up Champions League football in the future.

What’s the latest news involving Declan Rice?

A key part of Gareth Southgate’s England side, Rice was an ever-present in the Three Lions side that reached the World Cup quarter-finals.

With hopes of going all the way, England’s World Cup dream was shattered by reigning champions France who progressed to the last four at their expense.

Despite the frustration plenty of players have emerged from England’s World Cup run with enhanced reputations, and midfielder Rice is certainly amongst that cohort.

Rice played the full 90 minutes in all but one of England’s five matches at the tournament, helping the quarter-finalists keep three clean sheets along the way.

A dynamic midfielder capable of breaking up opposition moves and starting a counter-attack, Rice has been linked with a move away from the London Stadium with Dean Jones writing for GIVEMESPORT recently that both Chelsea and Manchester United are in the frame for his signature.

In a press conference during the World Cup, the midfielder indicated he sees his future away from West Ham and would be interested in playing Champions League football.

What has Sheth said about Rice?

An ambitious player, Rice has already amassed experience at the top level with England and could look to enhance his career opportunities in the coming months.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Sky Sports reporter Sheth hinted there will be increased “talk” surrounding Rice’s potential departure at the end of the season.

“I think there will be talk of that [Rice leaving next summer]. “I’m sure he sees – and he’s even said it in a news conference – that he sees his England teammates playing in Champions League football week in week out.

“Yet he, a player of his ability is currently in the Europa Conference League, which won’t be lost on him.”

Where would Rice leave West Ham for?

Ever since Rice broke onto the scene at West Ham, he has been linked with a move away from the London Stadium.

Stepping into the role of club captain following Mark Noble’s departure last year, the 23-year-old had been criticised for his below-par pre-World Cup performances.

Still, there would be plenty of suitors for Rice’s signature, should West Ham allow the England international to leave.

Often in the conversation when discussing Rice’s next destination are Chelsea, who have been a long-time admirer of his talents and are the home of best friend, Mason Mount.

With the future of injury-ridden N’Golo Kante still uncertain, Rice will no doubt be on Chelsea’s radar should they want to spend big in the summer.
