Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis is likely to be concerned that the Hoops are being linked to players in his position, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The 28-year-old’s future at Parkhead has become shrouded in doubt of late and he could be replaced as soon as January if a conclusion cannot be reached over a new contract.
Celtic transfer news – Giorgos Giakoumakis
A recent report from the Daily Record (via the Scottish Daily Express) has claimed that Giakoumakis is contemplating his future at Celtic after being unsatisfied with the fresh terms presented to him.
It’s believed the Greece international dropped his wages demands significantly to join the Glasgow giants from VVV-Venlo back in September 2021 on the understanding his deal would be improved if he enjoyed a successful debut campaign.
However, despite Giakoumakis bagging 17 goals in 29 appearances last term, he is not happy with the contract offer that has been presented to him by Celtic.

And Greek outlet Sportime has disclosed that the 6 foot 1 ace has changed agents in an attempt to push through a move to the Premier League in January.
Celtic are supposedly set to demand between €6 million (£5.1m) and €7 million (£6m) for Giakoumakis when the market re-opens for business with his existing contract not due to expire until the summer of 2026.
What has O’Rourke said about Giakoumakis?
O’Rourke believes that the speculation surrounding Celtic signing a new forward is probably a ‘concern’ for Giakoumakis.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “Obviously, it’s a concern probably for Giakoumakis that Celtic are being linked with other forwards right now.
“Giakoumakis has struggled to hold on a regular starting place in Ange Postecoglou’s side with Kyogo when fit and in form probably starting up front for them.”
Who could Celtic sign?
The Scottish Sun claimed that Celtic have ‘joined the race’ for Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors striker Cho Gue-Sung who is said to be attracting attention from several clubs across the continent.
Gue-Sung bagged a brace for South Korea against Ghana at the World Cup, catching the eye of numerous potential suitors in the process.
The 6 foot 2 star registered 21 goals and five assists in 35 appearances across all competitions for Jeonbuk last season, and at just 24, still has his best years ahead of him.
It remains to be seen if Postecoglou is willing to take a gamble on Gue-Sung, but it seems as though he could be an ideal heir to Giakoumakis.
