In April 2025, Liverpool finally confirmed their status as Premier League champions for the just the second time in their history. They wrapped up their 20th English top-flight league trophy with four games to spare, with Arsenal no longer mathematically able to close the gap.
A 5-1 thrashing of Spurs at Anfield was enough to get Arne Slot’s men across the line, in what was a joyous occasion for the club. While that will delight all those associated with the Reds, some squad players may be feeling a little uneasy.
After all, it is no easy feat to win the Premier League – Liverpool had won it just once before – so all senior players will be desperate to get their hands on a winner’s medal come May. For five first-team stars, however, this may not be possible.

Five Liverpool Players at Risk of No Medal
Must play at least five games
Summer signing Federico Chiesa was the most notable name to potentially miss out, as he has struggled for minutes in his debut season at Anfield. When the Reds sealed the title, he had played just four games in the league – vs Bournemouth, Brentford, Ipswich and Fulham – meaning he was one away from qualifying. Slot didn’t even get him any minutes against Spurs as Liverpool wrapped up the title, but the Italian finally picked up his fifth league appearance in the 2-1 defeat away at Chelsea the following weekend (managing eight minutes off the bench).
The other names are less familiar but can all be considered first-team players, despite their youth. Indeed, Tyler Morton, Trey Nyoni and James McConnell may not have played in the league this term but have featured for the senior team in other competitions.
Vitezslav Jaros had featured in the Premier League but is unlikely to pick up more minutes as he got a rare shot in goal when both Alisson and Caoimhin Kelleher were injured for the October match vs Crystal Palace.
Finally, Jayden Danns has no hope of reaching five games after he managed one earlier in the season. This is because he is currently on loan at Championship club Sunderland – in what has unfortunately been an injury-hit spell for the youngster.
With only two league games left this term, not of the five will reach the five-game mark now.

Rule Means All Five Could Still Get Medals
40 medals on offer, although more can be granted
However, even though the players will fail to make five league appearances, that does not necessarily mean they will miss out on a medal. As it happens, the Premier League hands the champions 40 commemorative medals, which are made of silver and 2.25in (5.7cm) in diameter.
The winning club can give out the medals to anyone they choose – coaches, players and other officials – so long as every player who has made at least five Premier League appearances during the title-winning season gets one.
What’s more, extra medals can be requested and granted by the Premier League Board. This would only happen, though, if more than 39 players have made at least five league appearances during the campaign
