5 Clubs Marcus Rashford Most Likely to Join After Man United Exit

After nearly two decades with Manchester United, Marcus Rashford’s time at Old Trafford looks to be finally coming to an end. The Englishman came through the ranks at the club and became a firm fan favourite in the process. He burst onto the scene in 2016 with ferocity and quickly took the Premier League by storm.

He’s had some real highs, but also some incredible lows since. The last couple of years have been particularly tough for Rashford. He’s struggled to maintain any semblance of form and his time in the Red Devils’ first-team has suffered as a result. Ruben Amorim has left him out of various recent match-day squads, questioning the star’s attitude and commitment in training on several occasions.

In an update provided by Henry Winter, Rashford revealed he was ready for a new challenge away from Old Trafford and his tenure with the team could be coming to a close in the near future. With the January transfer window open for a few more days, here’s a look at the teams he’s most likely to join next, ranked from most likely to least.

Marcus Rashford’s Potential Next Move

Barcelona

Hansi Flick

According to the current betting odds, there is no club better positioned to take Rashford away from his turbulent Old Trafford situation than Barcelona. According to Fabrizio Romano, his agents have met with the club in Spain, and while talks were initially thought to be in their early stages just a week ago, the feeling now is that a move may materialise before next week’s deadline.

With Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski, and Lamine Yamal all playing in the frontline – players who are all considered among the best in the world right now – it’s difficult to see where the Englishman could fit in. Moving from one club that doesn’t value him as a starter to another in the exact same position is a little odd, but Hansi Flick must have something in mind.

Borussia Dortmund

Mike Tullberg Borussia Dortmund

Hot on the heels of the success that Jadon Sancho, Jude Bellingham, and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens have all discovered in Germany’s North Rhine-Westphalia region, there’s no reason Rashford couldn’t follow in their footsteps and make an impact at Borussia Dortmund.

According to GIVEMESPORT sources, there is a bit of a barrier in terms of this one, with Dortmund wanting to loan him in the same manner they did with Sancho, while United want to offload him for a fee. But regardless of the current events, the player himself would likely relish the opportunity to play with a talented squad. Although, with the club currently sitting as low as 11th in the Bundesliga, he might not want to find himself in another role begging for him to be a hero again.

Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta

After a couple of incredible seasons under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal look to have taken a step back this time around and aren’t quite operating on the same level. One major area of weakness, in the eyes of many, is the left-wing position. Gabriel Martinelli has been struggling recently, and the Gunners could look to upgrade the role in the near future if they want to get back into Premier League title contention.

Enter Rashford, who they could turn to when looking for the perfect successor for the Brazilian. A change of scenery, while staying in England’s top fight could be the perfect scenario for the forward and being able to compete at the top of the table and share the offensive output among a number of other world-class players could be just what he needs.

AC Milan & Napoli

AC Milan Napoli

Instead of focusing on a single destination, Rashford’s next move could also see him heading to Italy. Serie A clubs have shown a growing appetite for English talent, with AC Milan being a prime example, currently boasting Tammy Abraham, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Fikayo Tomori among their ranks. Rashford could very well become the latest addition to this burgeoning English contingent.

At the same time, Napoli might emerge as a potential suitor as they search for a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who recently joined PSG. If this transfer materialises, Rashford would reunite with former teammates Scott McTominay and Romelu Lukaku – both of whom have experienced career revivals in Italy, something Rashford could certainly benefit from at this stage of his career.
