Aston Villa have enjoyed a remarkable 2023/24 campaign under Unai Emery.
The Spaniard, often ridiculed for his time at Arsenal, has essentially taken the same group of players that Steven Gerrard had and transformed them.
So much so that unless Tottenham win all of their remaining Premier League games and Villa lose all of theirs, it’s the latter that will be in the Champions League next season.
Morgan Sanson to sign for Nice permanently
That’s a decent consolation for getting knocked out of the Europa Conference League this past week.
One player hasn’t been part of the Villa revival under Emery, and Morgan Sanson is now going to make his loan move to Nice permanent.
That’s because, according to Get French Football News, Nice are guaranteed a top eight finish in Ligue Un and that has triggered the option of making his loan move a permanent one.
Ensuring that another salary stays off the books at Villa Park gives the club some more wiggle room for Financial Fair Play and in the summer transfer market.
