Manchester United star Marcus Rashford will not be leaving Old Trafford any time soon, with transfer insider Dean Jones informing GIVEMESPORT that there is ‘no way’ Erik Ten Hag would sanction a departure.
The 25-year-old has been in fine form this season, ascending into playing a starring role for the Red Devils in their top-four push.
Man Utd Transfer News – Marcus Rashford
Last month, Manchester Evening News reported that Manchester United were ‘confident’ over being able to agree on a new deal for Rashford, with discussions continuing over fresh terms.
His current contract at the Red Devils expires in the summer of 2024 and was actually due to run out at the end of this summer before Manchester United announced on their official website in December that 12-month extension clauses had been triggered for Rashford, Diogo Dalot, Fred and Luke Shaw.
Interestingly, according to The Mirror, Manchester United are not willing to break their £300,000 a week ‘Ronaldo rule’ to appease the 25-year-old. This could have an impact on the type of wage he could bargain for in negotiations, as he is likely to gain an increase on his current £225,000 pay packet in any prospective deal.
Rashford has been a major lynchpin for Manchester United in their latest endeavours, bagging back-to-back Player of the Month awards at the club in December 2022 and January 2023.
What has Dean Jones said about Marcus Rashford?
Transfer insider Jones believes that both Manchester United and Rashford will be in agreement that staying at Old Trafford is the best course of action for the club moving forward.
Jones told GMS: “Rashford, there’s just absolutely no way United are going to let Rashford leave at this moment in time.
“To be honest, I don’t think he’ll want to leave, the way things are going at the moment, the way he’s got himself back into form under Ten Hag, I think he appreciates where he’s at and the club are actually giving him licence to thrill, or if you like, he’s getting to play the role that he wants. He’s being given new responsibilities, he’s loving it and I just don’t think that this is the time to be looking at a transfer.”
What are Marcus Rashford’s stats this season?
Rashford has been outstanding in 2022/23, notching 18 goals and eight assists in 31 appearances across all competitions prior to Saturday’s clash against Crystal Palace, as per Transfermarkt.
WhoScored also notes that predominantly from a wide position, Rashford has managed to record an average of 2.6 shots per match this campaign, demonstrating his eye for goal that is regularly transferred into converted chances.
Of course, it is easy to forget that Rashford had struggled in 2021/22 to produce consistent displays, having scored just four Premier League goals in 25 matches for the Red Devils in a time of instability on the pitch at Old Trafford.
Now, things couldn’t be any more different and Manchester United should look to tie Rashford down as a matter of priority.
