Manchester United has always been a move that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has “quite fancied the idea of” amid rumours of a potential switch to Erik ten Hag’s side at Old Trafford this summer, transfer insider Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport.
The Spurs talisman has just 18 months remaining on his £200k-per-week contract, with there being no suggestion that he will sign a new deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Man Utd transfer news – Harry Kane
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are interested in signing Kane this summer, with ten Hag putting a centre-forward at the top of his transfer plans.
The same report has said that chiefs at Old Trafford have already begun to explore what it would take to bring the 29-year-old to Manchester ahead of next season, with the England captain reportedly being receptive to the idea of making the move north.
Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has recently told GiveMeSport that the Red Devils could look to bring in a big-name striker to the club later on in 2023, a bill in which Kane would certainly fit.
And Jones is taking the Mail’s report seriously and has claimed that the idea of a move to United has always been an option for Kane.
What has Jones said about Man Utd and Kane?
Jones told GiveMeSport: “I am definitely taking the Kane story seriously because I know how well-sourced it is.
“This is a moment when, ideally, Kane would stay in the Premier League to not only set that goals record but also properly compete for trophies.
“He’s always quite fancied the idea of United because of their status and pedigree and now that they’re on the up, who knows?
“I am also taking Bayern Munich’s interest seriously because there is a real positive vibe about it when I speak to people closer to them.”
Would Kane be a good signing for Man Utd?
At the age of 29, Kane is in the prime of his career and could prove to be the ideal signing for ten Hag at Old Trafford in the summer window.
England’s joint all-time top goalscorer has hit the back of the net 15 times whilst providing one assist in 20 Premier League appearances this season as per Transfermarkt, showing that he is a consistent threat in the attacking third of the pitch.
A WhoScored rating of 7.49 for his displays in the top flight rank the centre-forward as Spurs’ best-performing-player this campaign, showing that not only would the Red Devils be securing the services of a truly elite striker but they would also be weakening the quality of a divisional rival, something which may come into play when it comes to a transfer fee.
However, the signing of Kane at Old Trafford would likely be one of the biggest transfers the Premier League has seen for many a year, with ten Hag potentially looking at the acquisition as something which could turn his side into title contenders next season.
