20 y/o star ‘would be real coup’ for Moyes at London Stadium

West Ham United would pull off ‘a real coup’ by persuading Chelsea into allowing Armando Broja to head to the London Stadium, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Hammers only have one senior striker on their books ahead of the new season, with that being Michail Antonio, but boss David Moyes is keen to add Broja to his options.

What’s the latest news involving Broja?

Broja is back at Stamford Bridge after spending last term on loan with Premier League rivals Southampton.

But it seems he may not be given the opportunity to nail down a regular starting berth at Chelsea as, according to Sky Sports, Broja has been identified as West Ham’s first choice striker target.

The report suggests a £30million bid is being lined up as the east Londoners are eager to intensify their pursuit of the 14-cap Albania international.

West Ham have potentially been boosted in their hopes of persuading Broja to link-up with Moyes’ charges as Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor has told GIVEMESPORT that the frontman would be interested in sealing the deal.

However, the Hammers are not the only side interested in taking Broja off Chelsea’s hands as Newcastle United are also understood to be lining up an offer.

What has Pete O’Rourke said about Broja?

O’Rourke is unsure as to whether Chelsea will be open to offloading Broja, particularly after sanctioning Romelu Lukaku’s loan return to Inter Milan.

But the journalist believes West Ham should not hesitate in strengthening their interest as Broja, who reporter Adam Goodwin has suggested gives off ‘serious Erling Haaland vibes’, would bolster Moyes’ options.

O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “It’ll be interesting to see what Chelsea do decide to do with him this summer because, obviously, we all know of their striking issues as well.

“I think Broja would be a real coup for West Ham if they were able to sign the Albanian international because he proved at Southampton that he is good enough to play in the Premier League.”

Why is Broja of interest to West Ham?

Despite heading into last season having only been afforded four minutes of Premier League action at Chelsea, Broja impressed for Southampton and scored six goals in the competition.

In total, the 20-year-old found the back of the net on nine occasions during his time at St Mary’s, leading to ExWHUemployee revealing Moyes is ‘100% interested’ in striking a deal.

While statistics show Broja averaged less goals than current first choice West Ham frontman Antonio per 90 minutes last season, he found the target more regularly, so he would be a shrewd addition at the London Stadium.
