There is an ever-increasing focus in modern football on the financial side of the game. Although fans of football, as a whole, are only interested in performances and results from their favourite team, or teams, the figures in charge of these clubs, more often than not, are more concerned with numbers and figures.

Sponsorship deals, selling merchandise and deals on broadcasting are just some of the ways by which football clubs can bring in extra money, along with revenue generated from their matches. Despite money in the game already being at a ludicrous level, it is highly unlikely that this trend of increased investment will cease any time soon.

With that in mind, GIVEMESPORT have looked into the richest clubs in world football based on their revenue, with the information coming from Deloitte’s latest money league. See the results below.

20th-16th

Lyon, Marseille, Aston Villa, West Ham United, Juventus

Footing the latest edition of Deloitte’s Money League are two of the three Ligue 1 teams that feature on it, Lyon and Marseille. Though Lyon have had their struggles in recent months, having been handed a provisional relegation, the club turned over an extra £55 million of revenue compared to the season prior. As for Marseille, they have risen one place from last year, having made £242 million throughout the last campaign.

Ahead of the two French sides are two English sides. Aston Villa have jumped to 18th this year from 21st, something that their Champions League qualification no doubt helped with. West Ham United, meanwhile, have risen one place from 18th and sit behind Juventus, who have slipped five places from 11th in last year’s rankings to 16th in 2025.

15th-11th

Newcastle United, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund

Newcastle United may have dropped two ranking in Deloitte’s latest list, but their improvement in recent years is apparent through their revenue which, last season, was about £135 million better than it had been two campaigns prior. Above them are the Milan clubs, Inter and AC in that order, who are unmoved positionally from last year.

A £30 million increase in revenue over a season for Atletico Madrid has seen them jump from 15th to 12th on the list, ensuring they sit behind Borussia Dortmund who, particularly in recent years, have prioritised selling talents. The German club turned over £434.3 million, which is just shy of £80 million more than the term before that one.

10th-6th

Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Arsenal, Barcelona

There are six Premier League sides within the top 10 of the latest Deloitte Money League, although four of those teams sit somewhere between 10th and 6th. Despite there being just two places between Chelsea and Liverpool, the Reds turned over about £160 million more in revenue than the Blues, although Enzo Maresca’s team are now better positioned to make a push for Champions League football and in turn, to make more money in the current campaign.

Above Chelsea are Arsenal, who have risen three positions from their 10th-placed ranking last year. Mikel Arteta’s Gunners have nigh-on doubled their revenue compared to what it was in the 2021/22 season, having gone from £367 million two years ago to over £600 million now.

In sixth, narrowly missing out on a top five spot, is Barcelona, who dropped two positions from fourth having made just over £50 million less in revenue compared to last season. Granted, the Catalan giants have been playing in a smaller stadium as the Camp Nou undergoes renovations.

5th-1st

Bayern Munich, Manchester United, PSG, Manchester City, Real Madrid

Bayern Munich are fifth in Deloitte’s 2023/24 money league, having generated almost £650 million across the season which, when you consider that the Bavarian juggernauts went trophyless in the campaign, is immensely impressive. Just above them are Manchester United who, despite recent form, remain one of the globe’s biggest clubs, with the Red Devils having made £651 million, a slight increase on their previous season’s figure.

The top three are made up of teams from three different countries, with Paris Saint-Germain taking the metaphorical bronze medal for the latest completed campaign. The Parisians are still on the hunt for their first-ever Champions League triumph but remain one of the world’s richest clubs, having turned over around £680 million.

Manchester City were forced to settle for second yet again, despite being one of just two clubs that generated over £700 million as Pep Guardiola’s side marched to their fourth-straight Premier League title, an unprecedented feat. Ahead of them, however, is Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid, who retained their place at the top of the list.

Madrid became the first team to generate over 1 billion Euros in annual revenue in the history of football, generating over £140 million more than they did in the term prior as they won a La Liga and Champions League double, winning the latter competition for the 15th time in their history.
