2. Bundesliga Team of the Week: Matchday 8

Goalkeeper

Nicolas Kristof – SV Elversberg

With multiple shots being fired throughout the ninety minutes at the young Elversberg keeper, he had to make three key saves to keep a clean sheet in a narrow 1-0 victory over Kaiserslautern. 

Defenders

Timo Hübers – 1. FC Köln

After a less than convincing performance from the Köln captain as his side conceded four goals against Karlsruhe, he showed his class by scoring and keeping a clean sheet against Ulm. 

Laurin Curda – Paderborn

Laurin Curda achieved a 94% pass success rate and four tackles alongside a clean sheet in a 3-0 win over Jahn Regensburg.

Miro Muheim – Hamburger SV

Miro Muheim made four tackles and controlled the defensive unit well in an important win and clean sheet against league leaders Fortuna Düsseldorf.

Elias Baum – Elversberg

Elias Baum kept a clean sheet and provided an assist in a narrow 1-0 victory over Kaiserslautern.

Midfielders

Julian Green – Greuther Fürth

With a ninety percent pass success rate over the course of the game against Magdeburg with one penalty converted, Julian Green was key to securing a point for Greuther Fürth.

Mo El Hankouri – Magdeburg

A goal and an assist against Greuther Fürth sums up why El Hankouri may be a key part in any promotion push Magdeburg may  undertake this season.

Caspar Jander – Nürnberg 

Caspar Jander was key in turning around a 1-2 deficit against Preussen Münster as he provided one goal and two assists to sink the newly promoted side.

Aaron Zentner – Paderborn

Aaron Zentner provided help in a comfortable win for Paderborn against newly promoted Jahn Regensburg by scoring.

Forwards

Isac Lidberg – Darmstadt 98

Isac Lidberg continued his goalscoring form this campaign with a goal against Karlsruher SC in a 3-3 draw.

Robert Glatzel – Hamburger SV

Robert Glatzel impressed late on as he scored two goals against Fortuna Düsseldorf during Sunday’s Topspiel.

Robert Glatzel – Hamburger SV

Robert Glatzel put the nail in the coffin with two goals for Hamburg against top of the 2. Bundesliga side Fortuna Düsseldorf after they received a red card.

With twenty-two goals last season, Glatzel won the 2. Bundesliga top scorer award and with seven strikes already this campaign he looks a favourite for the Torjägerkanone once again.

Hamburg have always been impressive before the winter break during the last few years in the 2. Bundesliga, but this still seems like a statement win against a promotion favourite.
