Kicker reports that Heidenheim have been linked with a move to Stuttgart defender Leonidas Stergiou as they look to bolster their squad.
The Swiss international picked up an injury at the end of last season and has since lost his place in the team, at both right-back and centre-back.
The 23-year-old has only played for Stuttgart’s second team in the 3.Liga, and has yet to play a single minute for the senior side, and is in desperate need of playing time.
Relegation-threatened Heidenheim have been linked with a winter loan move for Stergiou in the winter, but have yet to make an approach.
Could Heidenheim be relegated?
Frank Schmidt’s side are currently last in the Bundesliga, and just before the international break, they lost 6-0 to Bayer Leverkusen.
The odds are not in their favour, and last season they needed a late goal in the relegation playoff against 2.Bundesliga side Elversberg to avoid getting relegated at the end of the previous campaign.
