£113m Mudryk alternative ‘a possibility’ at Emirates

Arsenal target Joao Felix ‘could be a possibility’ for the Gunners if Atletico Madrid drop their asking price, journalist Fabrizio Romano has informed GiveMeSport.

Felix has been linked to several top clubs from across the continent of late, but his sizeable price tag could make a move hard to pull off, especially in the January transfer window.

Arsenal transfer news – Joao Felix

Atletico CEO Gil Marin has admitted that the capital club may be forced to ‘look at’ Felix’s potential departure after a disagreement between the player and manager Diego Simeone.

“For reasons it isn’t worth getting into, the relationship between him and the boss [Simeone], the minutes played, his motivation right now, it makes you think that the reasonable thing is that if there’s an option that’s good for the player, good for the club, we can look at it,” he told TVE (via ESPN).

“I’d love him to stay personally, but I don’t think that’s the player’s idea.”

Since then, the Daily Record have claimed that Atleti will demand an £8 million loan fee to sanction Felix’s exit as well as any potential suitor paying his £247,000-per-week wages in full.

Romano has now stated in a column for CaughtOffside that both Manchester United and Arsenal have been in touch with the Portugal international’s agent.

What has Romano said about Felix?

The transfer guru has told GMS that there is nothing ‘concrete or advanced’ in Arsenal’s pursuit of Felix but that he could be a realistic option if Atletico ‘change the conditions’ that they are currently demanding.

He said: “If Atletico Madrid in the next days or weeks change the conditions on the deal, it could be a possibility for many clubs, not just for Arsenal.

“But at the moment, it’s not something concrete or advanced just a conversation with his agent that happened. And so, we have to consider it as a possibility but not as something advanced.”

Who else could Arsenal sign?

The Athletic have revealed that Arsenal have made an initial offer worth up to €65million (£57million) for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhailo Mudryk.

It’s claimed that the club have offered Shakhtar €40 million up front with a further €25 million in potential add-ons, although that is believed to have fallen short of the Ukrainian side’s asking price.

Dennis Bergkamp - Arsenal

Which year did Dennis Bergkamp leave Arsenal?

Club officials have publicly stated that they value their prized asset at closer to €100million (£88m), and Arsenal will surely have to up their offer for Mudryk as a result.

Felix moved to Atletico in a £113 million deal back in 2019, so neither he nor Mudryk are likely to come cheaply if Arsenal pursue a permanent transfer.
