10 Superstars With the Most Title Wins in WWE History (Ranked)

Summary

  • WWE has had the pleasure of platforming countless legendary WWE Superstars over the years.
  • These wrestlers have made history, earning themselves wins in all divisions possible.
  • From record-breaking World Championship reigns, to historic Tag Team triumphs, there are some WWE Superstars who have won more than others.

Throughout the long history of the WWE, there have been many WWE Superstars who have had sustained success and won multiple titles. With a storied history filled with countless memorable wrestlers, these stars spend their time in the squared circle competing for any possible title, but who has actually won the most overall?

When deciding what constitutes a true title reign in WWE, there have to be a few boundaries. Titles such as the 24/7 and Hardcore will not be included, otherwise R-Truth would have an unassailable lead with his 54 24/7 reigns. Gimmick belts like the Million Dollar Championship are also excluded. Titles won outside WWE in promotions like WCW and TNA are also not included, which rules Ric Flair, Booker T and Sting out of contention. However, WCW Titles won under the WWE umbrella do count, as the titles were still technically “WCW” during the 2001 Invasion storyline.

This leaves us with the following titles: WWE, Universal, World Heavyweight, Intercontinental, United States, European and all the Tag belts. Taking all of this into account, GiveMeSport takes you through the 10 wrestlers with the most cumulative championship wins in WWE history.

One of WWE’s most transcendent stars of all time, The Rock had a short but sweet career in the squared circle. From the Nation of Domination to Hollywood Rock, the Brahma Bull left no stone unturned on his path to greatness.

The Rock won 16 titles in just six years during his full-time WWE run from 1996 to 2002. This included 7 WWE Titles and 2 WCW Titles, as well as 2 Intercontinental Titles. Rocky also transferred singles success onto the tag circuit, winning 5 WWE Tag Titles, most memorably with Mick Foley. He later won his eighth WWE Title at the Royal Rumble in 2013, 11 years on from his last. Known as the People’s Champion, and although that doesn’t count toward his total, it is a fitting moniker.

An adored but equally underrated WWE Superstar, Christian’s 18 title triumphs see him place ninth. Enjoying two fruitful runs in the company, one from 1998-2005 and the other from 2009-2021, Captain Charisma managed a perfect 50/50 split between singles and tag team titles.

Winning nine Tag Team Championships, seven with Edge and the other two coming alongside Lance Storm and Chris Jericho, Christian was just as successful when embarking on singles gold. Earning four reigns as Intercontinental Champion, two as ECW and World Heavyweight Champion and a singular European Championship reign, the former Brood member’s 18 years in the WWE were incredibly worthwhile.

From one tag team legend turned singles star to another, Jeff Hardy is one of WWE’s biggest ‘what ifs?’ and that’s despite his impressive 19 cumulative title wins. During the height of his popularity, Hardy was untouchable and seemed destined to be WWE’s main act for years to come. However, troubles would plague the Hardy brother, but he still carved out a legendary career.

Achieving nine Tag Team Championship reigns across Raw, SmackDown and WCW, all alongside his brother Matt, his singles pursuits also bore fruit. A five-time Intercontinental Champion, two-time World Heavyweight Champion, and a one-time WWE, United States and European Champion, his stacked CV saw him become WWE’s ninth Grand Slam Champion.

A WWE lifer, Randy Orton has been around the WWE for over two decades, finding himself on the right side of history 20 times. Unlike the entrants before him, over half of the Viper’s success comes at the main event level. Earning ten WWE Championships and four World Heavyweight Championships, he is the joint-second winningest WWE Superstar for a World Championship.

Elsewhere, Orton dabbled in two singular reigns as Intercontinental and United States champion, alongside four reigns as Tag Team Champion. Achieving this feat with four separate partners, Riddle, Luke Harper, Edge and Bray Wyatt, Orton’s success makes him a guaranteed future WWE Hall of Famer.

The Miz is one of the true success stories in WWE history, as he went from reality TV show laughing stock to the first ever 2-time Grand Slam Champion. A career that seemed destined for failure due to his perception among his colleagues, the A-Lister stuck it out and earned himself 21 title victories along the way.

Thriving in any position on the card, nine of Miz’s triumphs came in the tag division, winning with partners such as John Cena, John Morrison and Shane McMahon. Alongside two wins for the WWE Championship and the United States Championship, the A-Lister also enjoyed eight Intercontinental title reigns, cementing himself as one of the belt’s greatest holders.

Another mainstay on WWE programming, Kofi Kingston, has been putting in the work for nearly two decades in the WWE. Earning himself a deserved 22 titles along the way, it is a number that may surprise the WEW Universe. A 14-time Tag Team Champion, Kingston, along with his New Day partners, cemented themselves as one of WWE’s greatest trios. Although he did wing alongside R-Truth and Evan Bourne, the bulk of Kofi’s tag team wins came standing side-by-side with Big E and Xavier Woods.

Accomplishing a lot of this success post-2014, Kingston was a thriving mid-card act before he turned tag team wrestler. Earning four reigns as Intercontinental Champion and three as United States Champion, his magnum opus was his WWE Championship triumph at WrestleMania 35.

4

Before Triple H was overseeing WWE in a suit and tie, the King of Kings was dominating inside the squared circle.Having enjoyed spells in factions such as Evolution and D-Generation X, the Game was just as triumphant when carving out his own path. Like his protégé Orton, Triple H has also won 14 World Titles, nine as WWE Champion and five as World Heavyweight Champion.

On top of this, Hunter is a five-time Intercontinental Champion, two-time European Champion and a three-time Tag Team Champion. Earning those reigns alongside ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin (1) and Shawn Michaels (2), his career is deserving of his 2025 Hall of Fame induction.

Chris Jericho has been successful wherever he has gone, and that is a lot of places. He is best remembered for his time in WWE though, and with good reason – he won 25 titles. This included being the first Undisputed WWE Champion in 2001, a three-time World Heavyweight and two-time WCW Champion.

He has won a record nine Intercontinental Titles as well as two United States Championships and a singular European title. He is also a seven-time Tag Champ, remarkably with seven different partners. Proving his worth in every position on the card, with every title possible, wrestling history will be kind to Y2J and his contribution to the business.

2

John Cena

No list of WWE greats is complete without the inclusion of John Cena. Tied with Chris Jericho on 25 cumulative title reigns, the leader of the Cenation will be hoping to increase this number before his retirement at the end of 2025. Eyeing up a record-breaking 17th World Title, a feat that is achievable at WrestleMania 41, if Cena were to sail into the sunset with no more title triumphs, he could do so with his head held high.

A 16-time World Champion, the Champ is also a five-time United States Champion alongside his four reigns as Tag Team Champion. Victories that he achieved with The Miz, Batista, David Otunga and Shawn Michaels by his side, Cena’s forte is singles wrestling, with his 21 titles proving so.

The Rated-R Superstar stands alone and clear at the top of the mountain for most titles won in WWE, showing his near-perfect WWE career. Edge started as a tag team specialist and, alongside the aforementioned Kofi, is a record 14-time Champion.

Half of these reigns came with Christian, while others came with the likes of Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho and even Hulk Hogan. Even with a record tally of tag belts, Edge has won more singles titles. He is an 11-time World Champion, including a record seven World Heavyweight Reigns, as well as four WWE Championship reigns. The Hall of Famer is also a five-time Intercontinental Champion and a one-time US Champion. His incredible record is unlikely to be topped anytime soon.
