Zinédine Zidane: “Of course you’d want to manage Kylian Mbappé.”

Speaking in an interview in Aix-en-Provence, Zinédine Zidane expressed a desire to manage Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappé (24) in the future.

The futures of the two iconic Frenchmen are currently up in the air. Zidane is currently out of work and has been since leaving his role as manager of Real Madrid in 2021. However, in an interview with Téléfoot, the former France international expressed a desire to return to work.

“If I’m having this break it’s because I should. I hope to tell myself that soon, I will be able to coach,” he said on Sunday’s edition of the programme.

Meanwhile, Mbappé’s future at PSG is highly unclear. The current France captain wishes to remain with Les Parisiens, but according to reports, PSG would like to sell the player after he informed them that he wouldn’t be triggering the one-year extension in his contract. As a result, PSG would be susceptible to losing the player on a free next summer, something they are keen to avoid.

Foot Mercato have reported that whilst PSG want to sell Mbappé this summer, the player himself already has an agreement to join Real Madrid in 2024. And perhaps there is a possibility that he will be joined at the Bernabeu by Zidane. It is possible that Carlo Ancelotti will leave Los Blancos next summer, opening the door for Zidane’s return.

Questioned by L’Équipe about the possibility of one day managing Mbappé, Zidane replied, “When you’re a manager and there is a player like him, of course, you’d want to manage him. Lots of things can happen. It could happen one day. He is a player that wears the France shirt well. In any case, I admire what he does. It’s beautiful, it’s strong.”
