Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen have on Wednesday forwarded a message of gratitude to their counterparts at Real Madrid.
This comes after Xabi Alonso’s squad were given permission to train at Real’s facilities.
Bayer Leverkusen were back in action on the continent last night, after making the trip to Spain’s capital for a Champions League showdown with Atlético Madrid.
The Germans were ultimately condemned to a hard-fought defeat, by two goals to one.
Ahead of returning to base in North Rhine-Westphalia later today, though, Alonso’s side were put through their paces in a recovery training session.
And the session in question, it has since been revealed, took place at Valdebebas.
Leverkusen themselves confirmed as much on Wednesday afternoon, by way of a pair of posts across the club’s social media platforms.
The German champions first wrote:
‘Die Werkself completed our Wednesday morning training in Madrid and are now on our way back to Leverkusen.’
And this was followed by a 2nd post, which read:
‘Thank you for your hospitality, Real Madrid!’
