Wrexham and Birmingham City go head-to-head in the Championship on Friday night, in a game which has a deeper meaning than just trying to get three points on the board.
Both clubs are famously owner by superstars, who made their name outside of the world of football. American actors Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds own Wrexham, and have overseen a dramatic rise, which has seen the climb from non-league to the Championship. Meanwhile, Birmingham City are owner by American Football player Tom Brady, and they will face each other at the Racehorse Ground this weekend.
GIVEMESPORT has taken a look at how the two teams might line up.
Wrexham Team News
Wrexham will be without a trio of players, with Danny Ward, Liberato Cacare, Jay Rodriguez, Andy Cannon, and Oliver Rathbone all on the treatment table. Nathan Broadhead will be pushing for a start after his impressive start to the season, topped by his goal against Leicester City last time out.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Phil Parkinson make minimal changes for this game, with Wrexham picking up a strong point away to Leicester, while they are also unbeaten in their last four matches.

Wrexham Predicted XI
- Wrexham Predicted XI: Okonkwo; Cleworth, Hyam, Brunt; Kabore, Dobson, Sheaf, Longman; Broadhead, O’Brien; Moore.
- Wrexham Predicted Substitutes: Burton (GK), Doyle (DEF), Coady (DEF), McClean (MID), James (MID), Barnett (MID), Thomason (MID), Smith (FWD), Windass (FWD).
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Parkinson make just the one change from Wrexham’s draw with Leicester. After scoring his second goal of the campaign against Leicester, and his second in just three games, Broadhead may have earned himself a start ahead of Windass, who will drop to the bench alongside Conor Coady. Windass and Coady are two of Wrexham’s big earners, taking home £40,000-a-week combined.
Birmingham Team News
Birmingham City are on a tricky run of form, with just one win in their last five Championship matches. As a result, Chris Davies could be looking to rotate his side once again.

The Midlands outfit are likely to be without Ethan Laird, Keshi Anderson, Willum Willumsson, and Scott Wright for this game, while we could see some changes to Davies’ starting XI. Bright Osayi-Samuel picked up an injury on Tuesday, with Birmingham playing just a few days ago, but it’s unclear whether it was anything too serious.
Birmingham Predicted XI
- Birmingham City Predicted XI: Allsop; Sampstead, Neumann, Cashin, Cochrane; Iwata, Paik; Koumas, Stansfield, Gray; Furuhashi.
- Birmingham City Predicted Substitutes: Beadle (GK), Klarer (DEF), Osayi-Samuel (DEF), Doyle (MID), Fujimoto (MID), Leonard (MID), Dykes (FWD), Roberts (FWD), Isichei (FWD).
The game might come too soon for Osayi-Samuel, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him only make the bench if he does pass a fitness test. As mentioned, Davies could be forced into some changes due to inconsistent form and the hectic fixture schedule, with the likes of Tommy Doyle and Patrick Roberts, who signed on loan in the summer transfer window, dropping to the bench.
