Wolves Considering Rob Edwards Alongside Gary O’Neil

Wolves are also considering a move to appoint Middlesbrough manager Rob Edwards, alongside Gary O’Neil, with Vitor Pereira sacked on Sunday morning.

GIVEMESPORT sources confirmed on Sunday that Pereira had been relieved of his duties as Wolves manager following a disappointing start to the Premier League season. GIVEMESPORT later reported that former manager O’Neil was a surprise contender to take over from Pereira, despite being sacked just last year.

Pereira’s sacking wouldn’t have come as a surprise to many, but Wolves did offer him a new contract not too long ago, hinting that they were planning to stick by him. Ultimately, Wolves’ poor campaign continued, and the Midlands club were left with no choice but to sack the manager, with Wolves sitting bottom of the Premier League table.

Luton Town manager Rob Edwards

GIVEMESPORT understands that former Wolves defender Edwards is also a contender to take over from Pereira as manager, alongside O’Neil. Edwards has a strong connection with Wolves having previously played for the club during his career, but the Wanderers would need to pay compensation to prise him away from Middlesbrough.

Edwards currently has Middlesbrough sitting in second place in the Championship, picking up 25 points from their opening 13 games. Edwards has experience managing in the Premier League previously, having taken Luton Town to the Premier League, before being sacked after they were sitting towards the relegation zone in the Championship.

As it stands, it’s unclear who the favourite for the job is, but O’Neil and Edwards are two managers being considered by Wolves as they aim to bring in a coach capable of steering them away from the relegation zone.
