As revealed by Niko Kovac, Wolfsburg are sweating over the fitness of Jonas Wind and Patrick Wimmer ahead of the upcoming game against Union Berlin.

VfL Wolfsburg coach Niko Kovac has revealed that two of the team’s regular starters, Patrick Wimmer and Jonas Wind, are doubtful for Saturday’s Bundesliga home game against Union Berlin.

“Patrick Wimmer has been ill and had muscular problems recently. That’s why he trained less. Jonas Wind has also only trained partially due to achilles tendon problems. I hope they will overcome their problems in time for the game,” Kovac said at his pre-match press conference.

Wind’s absence would be a particular blow for Wolfsburg, as the Danish striker has scored four goals and added an assist in his first three league games of the season.

And with Lukas Nmecha out for the long term, Wolfsburg don’t have a direct replacement for the 24-year-old forward.
