On Saturday, the 13th of September, Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford will clash in one of the biggest boxing super-fights in recent memory.
Canelo vs Crawford has been in huge demand for several years, and in September, boxing fans will finally get their wish and witness a true super-fight for the ages. Not only is there a lot of interest in this fight as it is two of the best boxers in the world facing each other, but there is also a lot of intrigue coming into the fight due to the weight it is being held at, as Crawford will be coming up 14 pounds for the highly anticipated clash.
As this is one of the biggest boxing fights in recent memory, plenty of huge names in boxing and sports in general, such as Stephen A. Smith and David Benavidez, have submitted their official predictions for the fight, and the latest person to join them with a prediction is boxing icon Mike Tyson. During a recent appearance on The Big Podcast, hosted by basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal, ‘Iron’ admitted the fight was “tricky” to predict, but eventually settled on his prediction and picked a winner.
Mike Tyson Picks Canelo Alvarez to Defeat Terence Crawford
Although Mike Tyson has admitted that Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford is a very “tricky” fight to call, he has backed the Mexican superstar to become the first man to defeat ‘Bud.’ During a recent appearance on The Big Podcast, Tyson revealed that although he wants Crawford to win, Canelo’s fight IQ and power may just be too much for him to deal with.
Tyson said the following:
“It’s tricky, I want Crawford to win, but it doesn’t look like it is going to happen.”
He added: “I would like for that to happen, but this guy (Canelo) is a hard puncher; he is a smart fighter. I am just curious, I just wanna see it. I wanna be there to see it.”
The big talking point coming into the super-fight has naturally been the size and weight difference between the two men, as Crawford is significantly coming up in weight for the fight, and will likely look the much smaller man in the ring on fight night, even with his new incredible physique. Tyson also spoke on the size and weight discrepancy, noting “there’s been upsets like that before.”
“Because listen, there’s been upsets like that before. Henry Armstrong at 124 pounds, he beat the 146-pound champ. So, you know, you never know. Anything can happen when two men are in the ring.”
Although the size and weight difference has been a huge talking point, Crawford is one of the most skilled boxers on the planet and definitely stands a chance at defeating Canelo.
