Werder Bremen’s Niclas Füllkrug changes consulting agency

On Sunday evening, ROOF consulting agency presented Werder Bremen’s Niclas Füllkrug as a new client, sparking discussions that the 29-year-old may leave the Bundesliga club this month. But according to Füllkrug himself, this isn’t necessarily the case.

Speaking to Kicker, Füllkrug said that he’s “not currently” thinking about a departure but added: “Until of course something concrete is on the table and Werder might say ‘that would also be attractive for us.’ Then we have to talk about it. You can never rule that out 100 percent.”

On whether a possible departure has been discussed, Füllkrug added that they haven’t talked about a transfer yet and that there’s “no such thing at the moment.”

Werder Bremen head coach Ole Werner also believes Füllkrug will remain at Bremen this month but with three weeks of the transfer window remaining, you can never rule anything out.

Füllkrug has scored 10 and created two in 14 Bundesliga games for Werder Bremen this season, making him the highest-scoring German in Europe, which resulted in a place in Hansi Flick’s Germany squad for the World Cup. At 29, Füllkrug made his Germany debut in the friendly against Oman prior to the World Cup, and has scored three in four games for Die Mannschaft.
