‘We have to wait until May’: Kylian Mbappé may have to compensate PSG for his departure

Real Madrid bound Kylian Mbappé (25) may have to concede compensation to Paris Saint-Germain upon his expected departure in the summer, reports Peter Rutzler of The Athletic.

It is widely anticipated that the French star will join the La Liga leaders at the end of his contract this summer, although neither club has confirmed this as yet.

As Rutzler reports, PSG and Mbappé still need to hash out the economic details of the potential move, with the understanding that the Parisians are due to be compensated financially for their record goalscorer’s departure should it be confirmed.

For Mbappé, this would mean making further concessions following approximately 80M€ in loyalty bonuses last summer, likely in the form of a percentage of his sign-on bonus from his new club.

As of now, the Frenchman and his entourage remain tight-lipped about future plans, with his mother Fayza Lamari preaching discretion as the business end of PSG’s season approaches.
