As reported by Marca, Unai Emery is still looking for ways to strengthen his Villarreal side before the transfer market closes.
The Yellow Submarine are prioritising the signing of a new striker and a full-back.
As things stand, Villarreal’s only fully fit player who can play left-back is Alfonso Pedraza. With Alberto Moreno sidelined for the next few months, the club are in the market to find someone who can provide competition for Pedraza. The Spanish side have been linked with Sergio Reguilón of Tottenham, who is not part of Antonio Conte’s plans at Spurs.
If Villarreal do end up signing him, he would be the second player to arrive from the North London club this summer following the signing Giovani Lo Celso.
The club parted ways with forwards Paco Alcácer and Boulaye Dia earlier this transfer window as The Yellow Submarine look for more clinical alternatives. Throughout the summer Villarreal have been linked with Edinson Cavani. However, they may have to race Valencia to secure the signing of the Uruguayan.
