Update on the future of this Real Madrid midfield ace- The 4th Official

In a recent report, Cadena SER offered an update on the future of Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos who is refusing to pen a new contract and will assess his options next summer. It is believed that the German midfield ace is unwilling to commit his future to the Madrid club with his current contract set to expire in 2023.

Kroos’ Excellent Campaign At The Santiago Bernabeu Stadium

Kroos had another successful season in Spain as he helped Los Blancos win the La Liga title and the UEFA Champions League trophy earlier this year. The German international found the back of the net on three occasions and secured three assists in 44 matches for the Madrid outfit in the previous campaign across various competitions.

The 32-year-old gave a good account of himself by averaging 1.2 tackles, 1.6 shots and 1.8 key passes per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from midfield after completing 94.9% of his attempted passes in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).

What Should Be Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti’s Play With Regards To Kroos’ Future?

Kroos can get stuck in with some solid tackles to make life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park. He remains an excellent passer of the ball and can set up a few decent chances for his teammates in the opposition half.

The experienced German international can even chip in by netting the odd goal from time to time. However, father time is slowly catching up with his game.

Therefore, it is only natural for the player to look for a new challenge when he becomes a free agent next summer. Still, the Madrid giants would be wise to keep hold of him for at least another season as he is still a vital member of Carlo Ancelotti‘s starting XI.

Kroos has got a wealth of experience and the winning mindset to help Los Blancos win some major silverware once again in 2023. Hence, Real Madrid should consider keeping him at the club for one more season even if it means losing him on a free transfer at the end of next season.
