Bitter news for FC Augsburg as, German footballing magazine Kicker reports, Felix Uduokhai will miss at least four months and possibly the entire Hin-Runde with a broken syndesmosis. The 24-year-old’s ankle fracture was apparently incurred during Saturday’s 1-2 loss to Mainz.
Udoukhai started and played the full 90 minutes in all four of Augsburg’s competitive fixtures this year. The German U21 international was an integral part of head-coach Enrico Maaßen’s back-three, which will now need serious revision.
With Reece Oxford also out injured, Uduokhai’s most likely immediate replacement will be Danish center-halve Frederik Winther.
