Tottenham Hotspur’s Mathys Tel (21) could be called up by Zinédine Zidane for the French national team’s November training camp, according to reports in L’Équipe.
With the French manager set to cope without Esteban Lepaul (26) and Ousmane Dembélé (29), who are both injured, the Spurs forward could be given the opportunity to make his senior debut in the upcoming matches against Italy and Turkey.
Although he has scored just one goal in nine appearances (seven as a starter) for his London club this season, his strong performances for the France Under-21s are said to have been noticed and appreciated by the Les Bleus coaching staff. As captain of Les Espoirs, he had, notably, scored five goals and provided one assist in four matches during the last training camp.
However, Tel is not the only striker eyeing a place in the France squad, as Inter Milan’s Marcus Thuram (29) – who was absent in September but has made a notable start to the season with the Nerazzurri (five goals and four assists in 13 matches) – is also in contention.
