Tottenham have reportedly placed a £60 million price tag on Cristian Romero, amid interest from Atletico Madrid (h/t The Telegraph).
The Argentine defender has been one of Spurs’ top performers since he arrived from Atalanta in 2022.
The 27-year-old played a key role in helping the club win the Europa League this season. He was named man of the match in the final.
Atletico manager Diego Simeone is a big admirer of Romero and wants him at the club. They have also been linked with Liverpool’s Andy Robertson.
Spurs have made it clear that Romero will not be sold for anything less than £60m.
Spurs facing big call over key defender

Romero is expected to return to pre-season training in the second week of July.
His future is uncertain, with speculation mounting over whether he will stay in London or move to La Liga.
Thomas Frank is heading into his first season in charge of Spurs, and losing a player of Romero’s quality would be a major blow.
The Argentine has built a strong reputation for his commanding displays and leadership at the back.
He also played a crucial role in Argentina’s World Cup win in 2022, leading their defence during the tournament.
Spurs are open to offers, but only if clubs match their valuation. The ball is now in Atletico Madrid’s court as they weigh up whether to make a formal bid.
