Tottenham have ‘super talented’ £26m star ‘on the radar’ at Hotspur Way

Tottenham Hotspur will have Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi ‘on their radar’ ahead of the January transfer window opening for business at the turn of the year, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

More than £150 million was spent on new signings during the summer as Antonio Conte continued to bolster his squad and further investment could soon be made.

What is the latest on Frattesi’s future?

According to reports in Italy, Tottenham are monitoring the progress of the 23-year-old midfielder ahead of the window opening.

However, they are not alone in their pursuit of Frattesi, with the reports adding that Brighton and Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi is eyeing a reunion with his former Neroverdi star.

It is also understood that Manchester United have thrown their hat into the ring, having sent scouts to watch the four-cap Italy international, who has previously been described as ‘super talented’, in action.

When Roma came in for Frattesi during the summer, Jose Mourinho and co. were quoted a €30 million (£26 million) price for his services, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

What has O’Rourke said on a potential deal?

O’Rourke understands that Frattesi is on the club’s radar ahead of the January window as the club weigh up potential new recruits.

The journalist adds that, with Spurs having had success when raiding Serie A for talent in recent years, it is no surprise to see them returning.

O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “I’m sure he’s somebody who’s on their radar and that they’re looking at. They’ve had success in the past signing players from Italy so it’s been a successful avenue for Tottenham in the transfer window in the last couple of seasons.”

Who else have Spurs signed from Serie A?

This summer alone saw Tottenham poach three stars from the Italian top-flight as Ivan Perisic left Inter Milan to join on a free transfer, Destiny Udogie was signed – before being loaned back to Udinese – and Cristian Romero completed his permanent move from Atalanta.

Conte’s first transfer window in charge was also a fruitful one as Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur were both brought in from Juventus in January.

With director of football Fabio Paratici boasting plenty of ties to Italian clubs, and Conte in the dugout, it is no surprise this is an avenue the club are continuing to exploit.

Do not expect that to change any time soon.
