Tottenham and Arsenal involved in battle to sign Anthony Elanga

Tottenham saved their season by winning the Europa League under Ange Postecoglou.

Their league form was highly disappointing when they finished 17th in the Premier League standings last season.

Even winning silverware could not save Postecoglou’s job at the club with Spurs now close to appointing Thomas Frank from Brentford.

It is clear that they need new additions in he squad and particularly in the attacking positions.

Tottenham need squad depth for Champions League

Having qualified for the Champions League by winning the Europa League, Spurs need to improve the quality in their squad and they have started working towards it by identifying their transfer targets.

According to TBR Football, Tottenham are interested in a move for Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga, with the player reportedly valued at around £60 million by his current club.

Under Thomas Frank, Tottenham’s emphasis on dynamic wide play makes Elanga a key target.

His ability to stretch defenses, cut inside, and supply chances could integrate well into Frank’s playing style.

Yet, investing around £60m on one winger amid a sell-to-buy financial model could be risky.

Successful Champions League qualification brings revenue, but Spurs must balance marquee signings against maintaining squad depth across multiple fronts.

Tottenham are not alone in their interest. Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle United are all tracking Elanga’s situation.

It is understood that Elanga is content at Nottingham Forest and not actively seeking a move this summer, with no immediate desire to depart the City Ground ahead of next season.

Bringing Elanga to Tottenham would represent a positive step forward in strengthening their attacking options. However, his arrival could potentially place Brennan Johnson’s place in the starting lineup under threat.

Nonetheless, Spurs need depth in their squad and Elanga is a player who can provide that.

The North London club have also been alerted to the availability of Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho.
