Bayern Munich are reportedly looking to step up their interest in Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.
According to Bild’s head of football, Christian Falk, the 25-year-old centre-back is “top of their priority list” on the transfer market.
With Guehi’s contract at Crystal Palace expiring at the end of the season, he will be free to speak to other clubs from January 1, at which point Bayern are expected to make contact.
When asked at a press conference on Thursday about the importance of clarifying his personal future, Guehi replied:
“For me, it doesn’t matter. As long as I’m playing well for Palace, there is an opportunity for me to be here.
“Whether it’s sorted or not, it doesn’t matter for me.
“Personally, I don’t know if I can think that far ahead. I like to just take it step by step, and that is just focusing on the games that I have at Palace and any upcoming opportunities I have here.”
Bayern have also been linked with Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck, but Bild reports that he is considered more of an alternative to Guehi.
Two centre-backs, Kim Min-jae and Dayot Upamecano, could potentially leave the the German champions in the summer.
A move appears particularly likely for Kim, who has lost his starting spot, while Upamecano’s future also remains uncertain, with Bayern and the Frenchman in talks over a possible contract extension beyond 2026.
