Thomas Tuchel has a huge summer ahead of him. The Chelsea boss is preparing for an overhaul to his squad that will give the side a chance to be even more competitive next season.
While they started the previous campaign strongly, the Blues limped their way to third by the final game. Changes behind the scenes have ushered in the new era at the club under owner Todd Boehly, who is expected to offer £200million to Tuchel for the window.
The German coach is likely to need it too, with a number of key players leaving in the early stages of the break. On the activity ahead, the manager said: “We are rebuilding, not improving the squad. We are rebuilding. This is always challenging but we are up for the challenge.”

With many outgoings already confirmed and more expected in the coming weeks, it remains to be seen exactly where the squad will be strengthened. A number of high-profile players have been linked with a switch, with many different positions mentioned.
It can make it tough to see what the plan is from the Blues in terms of additions, however, Tuchel’s transfer priority may have been revealed. According to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, Ousmane Dembele is the current top priority for the club.
The Frenchman is set to be out-of-contract at the end of the month, with his deal at Barcelona expiring. Dembele is said to also desire a move to Stamford Bridge, having played under Tuchel during his short spell at Borussia Dortmund.
However, with complications surrounding his deal at the Nou Camp and his future after, it remains to be seen whether he will be the first player through the door for the summer.
