Paulo Fonseca could make a shock departure from Olympique Lyonnais, as per a report from L’Équipe. The Portuguese manager is in advanced talks with Sporting CP.
Rui Borges currently sits in the dugout at Sporting CP, however, his position is uncertain and L’Équipe understands that they have already opened talks with Lyon and Fonseca regarding a deal. All parties are open to doing a deal, with Fonseca likely to be on a similar salary should he make a dramatic return to his native country.
Fonseca, it is understood, is tempted by such a move, although, as things stand, there is no agreement. His exit would, however, allow Les Gones to rid themselves of a significant salary on their wage bill.
In the event of Fonseca leaving the club, Thiago Motta would be a potential target for OL. In any case, the Italian’s entourage have reached out to Lyon to ask if there was a potential opportunity, L’Équipe understands.
