Victor Boniface has given his first interview as a Werder Bremen player, speaking about his Deadline Day loan move from Bayer Leverkusen and the whirlwind days leading up to it.
In an interview with Werder Bremen’s official website, Victor Boniface has reflected on his dramatic Deadline Day loan transfer from Bayer Leverkusen.
“Everything just happened so quickly, which I was pleased about. I had some great conversations with the people at Werder which gave me a good feeling about the move. I’m so happy to be here,” Boniface said.
The striker’s switch to Bremen came after a proposed transfer to AC Milan fell through at the final stage, with the Serie A club opting against signing him following his medical.
“The last few weeks haven’t been easy for me. The people here at Werder told me their exact plans and it didn’t take them long to convince me. I was on board immediately and I am very pleased that it has come to be,” Boniface said.
When asked about his expectations for the loan spell, the Nigerian international said:
“I never set myself any personal goals ahead of the season, such as scoring a certain amount of goals and so on. I want to be successful with the team and I want to win games. I’d love to do that with Werder this season.”
