RB Leipzig have a tough task ahead of them as they face Manchester City, one of the favorites to win the Champions League, in the first of two round of 16 matches on Wednesday evening.
‘Die Roten Bullen’ are coming off a confidence-boosting 3-0 away win over Wolfsburg, which saw Christopher Nkunku make his long-awaited comeback from injury off the bench.
Manchester City, on the other hand, were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest, meaning they remain two points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal, who have a game in hand.
RB Leipzig have no fresh injury concerns, but will be without long-term absentees Peter Gulacsi (knee), Abdou Diallo (knee) and Dani Olmo (thigh).
Marcel Halstenberg, Mohamed Simakan and Konrad Laimer could well come into the starting eleven after being rested against Wolfsburg.
Although Nkunku made a quick impact against Wolfsburg after coming on in the second half, setting up Konrad Laimer’s 2-0 goal, he’s expected to start on the bench again, with Leipzig likely to ease him back in.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola should have a full squad at his disposal with the exception of John Stones (hamstring).
