HSV and Eintracht Frankfurt go head-to-head in an all-Bundesliga second round DFB-Pokal clash.

HSV and Eintracht Frankfurt will meet twice in the space of five days, with a DFB-Pokal Round of 16 spot at stake in their first clash.
HSV
Merlin Polzin’s side saw their three-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday with a lackluster performance in Paderborn. To make matters worse, their loanee Rayan Philippe scored the only goal of the game a couple of minutes before the end of regular time.
They will now return to Volksparkstadion, where they beat Köln and Stuttgart in their most recent fixtures. HSV were knocked out of the cup at this stage in two of the last four seasons.
Frankfurt
The Eagles have a much better record of late in the DFB-Pokal, but they lost to Borussia Dortmund on penalties in the second round last season. The five-time winners recorded the biggest scoreline of the first round with eight players on the scoresheet in their 11-0 victory over Oberliga outfit SC St. Tonis.
Jonathan Burkardt and co. didn’t show such efficiency in front of goal in recent games as they only found the net once in their three Bundesliga encounters after the international break. Adi Hütter’s side defended well against Borussia Dortmund in the weekend before a late Maximilian Beier stunner succumbed them to their third defeat of the season.
Head-to-head
HSV took four points from the head-to-head games with Frankfurt in their return to Bundesliga after a long absence. It was at the similar stage the teams last met in the cup as Frankfurt prevailed at home with a 5-2 win in 2010.
Frankfurt beat HSV in the final when they first won the cup in the 1973/74 season as club legend Bernd Hölzenbein guided them to an extra-time victory.
Team News
HSV will be without Fabio Vieira and Bilal Nadir as both midfielders suffered injuries on the weekend. Meanwhile, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Albert Grönbaek could start for the first time since returning from their respective injury layoffs.
Hütter has no new injury worries, but there could be some changes from the lineup in Dortmund for both performance reasons and to deal with the fixture congestion.
Predicted Lineups
