Kicker reports that talks between Bayern Munich and Lucas Hernández are ongoing over a contract extension for the 27-year-old.
An agreement between the two parties is expected as talks continue. There is no rush in trying to finish the deal. Hernández’s current deal is set to expire in 2024, the defender joined Bayern in 2019 from Atlético Madrid for €80 million.
The new deal is a sign from Bayern that they stick with their players during difficult times as Hernández recovers from a cruciate ligament tear sustained at the World Cup in France’s first match against Australia.
Before his injury, Hernández played 11 times for Bayern scoring once and assisting once.
The return of Hernández and his new contract extension could show what João Cancelo’s future looks like. Hernández will likely return to be backup for Alphonso Davies and with Noussair Mazraoui also slowly returning Bayern will have all their defensive options available once again.
