Real Sociedad have been pursuing a new striker for weeks, with head coach Imanol Alguacil unsatisfied with this current options of Sheraldo Becker, Umar Sadiq and Carlos Fernandez. Their top target is Borja Mayoral, for whom they have now agreed a deal for with Getafe.
That has been reported by Noticias de Gipuzkoa, although the operation is currently being held up. La Real and Getafe have agreed to a swap deal involving Mayoral and Sadiq, which would also see Txuri-Urdin pay an unspecified fee. However, the latter is not convinced by a move to the Coliseum, despite the insistence of Getafe manager Jose Bordalas.
La Real are keen to move Sadiq on this summer, as he has no place in Alguacil’s plans. A move to Getafe would present him with an opportunity to play regular football, but for now, he’s not interested.
Nevertheless, the report states that Real Sociedad expect to conclude a deal for Mayoral soon, regardless of whether Sadiq is included in a deal for now. They certainly have money to spent, following the sale of Robin Le Normand to Atletico Madrid, and the imminent one of Mikel Merino to Arsenal.
