Darmstadt held Magdeburg to a 1-1 draw in a game of few chances at Bollenfalltor. Both goals came in the first-half of a hard-fought encounter between teams who had contrasting results in midweek.
The hosts momentarily lifted themselves out of the bottom place as they’re now unbeaten in three games, including their cup victory against Elversberg. Meanwhile, Magdeburg, who lost 6-1 at Allianz Arena on Wednesday, could have been level on points with second-placed Wolfsburg had they kept their early lead.
Tobias Müller put the visitors ahead with a scrappy goal inside the first 15 minutes before Stoke City loanee Milan Smit levelled the score with his fifth goal for Darmstadt courtesy of a cheeky backheel.
Darmstadt will hope to get their first point(s) on the road next week in Nürnberg, while Magdeburg’s last game before the international break sees them host St. Pauli.
