Spanish media’s furious reaction to ‘criminal’ tackle on Kylian Mbappé

The Spanish media reacted in horror to the late tackle on Kylian Mbappé (25) during Paris Saint-Germain’s Coupe de France victory over Stade Brestois. 

During the game, Lillian Brassier (24) mistimed his tackle and collided heavily with the French captain’s ankle. It was a worrying scene for Mbappé as the star remained on the ground for a few minutes before continuing with the game. 

Luis Enrique was assuring during his post-match comments and highlighted that Mbappé had managed to finish the match and that he did not think “it was very serious.” Despite these comments, this did little to prevent the Spanish media from demonstrating their anger with the tackle. 

‘Jail!’ for Kylian Mbappé tackle

Mundo Deportivo referred to the tackle as being “criminal” while Marca went with the headline “Jail! The tackle that could have ended the career of Mbappé.” Diaro Vasco called it “a miracle that Mbappé was able to complete the 90 minutes.” 

It appears a poorly kept secret that Mbappé has decided to join Real Madrid at the end of his contract this season, although nothing has been officially confirmed. The Spanish giants have publicly courted the French captain, and it was only a change of heart that prevented Mbappé from joining the club in 2021. 

Until the pen is put to paper and the forward wears the white shirt, the Spanish media will anxiously watch every game that Mbappé plays and will react with fury at every tackle that could keep him further away from that future.

Lillian Brassier racially abused on social media

Following the game, Brassier was racially abused across his X (formerly known as Twitter) and Instagram accounts. Both accounts have now had to limit their replies following the scale and severity of the abuse that the defender received.
