Inter travel to Monza on Saturday in good spirits after their win at the Giuseppe Meazza against league leaders Napoli.
The Serie A season resumed on Wednesday with a full round of fixtures. Inter relaunched their Scudetto hopes with a 1-0 win over Napoli in their own Meazza, with Edin Dzeko scoring the only goal. It was the Partenopei’s first defeat of the season in the league, which must be a massive confident boost for Inter early in the second half of the season. The Nerazzurri are now in 4th place, 8 points behind Napoli.
Monza managed to leave Florence with a point after Carlos Augusto cancelled out Arthur Cabral’s opener. That result puts them in 15th place, a comfortable 8 points clear of the drop zone. Getting a result against Inter will be tough, as the Nerazzurri surely want to give that good start a follow-up.
Inter’s line-up will remain largely unchanged from the one against Napoli. Denzel Dumfries has returned to full fitness, so it’s likely that he’ll replace Matteo Darmian, who did well against Napoli. For the home side, Stefano Sensi is still a doubt. That means the Inter-loanee could miss the match against ‘his’ team.
