As reported by Bild, Schalke 04 star Moussa Sylla could be sold this winter after just six months at the club.
The Mali international joined S04 in July from French Ligue 2 side Pau FC for €2.5m. The fee was seen as a risk at the time due to Schalke’s fragile financial situation.
However, the gamble on Sylla is already paying off. The 24-year-old has scored six goals in seven games this season, including scoring the winner against SC Preußen Münster last weekend.
Speaking after S04’s 2-1 victory over Münster, Sylla said: “On 1:1, I have speculated that the goalkeeper does not hold the ball. Six goals in seven games are good, but I can get even better!”
It’s likely that Sylla will reach double figures for the season before the January transfer window and will most likely be a candidate for sale.
The reason for this is that Schalke 04 are still in a desperate position financially. Currently, the club is in €168 million Euros of debut. Therefore, should they receive an offer close to €10m for Sylla, they will find it difficult not to take the quick profit.
Additionally, Serie A giants Juventus and Inter Milan are reportedly monitoring Sylla’s progress.
