Hamburger SV completed a late coup by signing a midfielder from Arsenal. And, they’ll not stop there.
Albert Sambi Lokonga joins Hamburger SV on a permanent transfer. The Belgian central midfielder was in his last year of his Arsenal contract after spending last season on loan at Sevilla.
“With the commitment of Sambi, we are getting a strong and experienced midfielder,” said HSV’s executive board member Stefan Kuntz. “He has proven his qualities at the highest level in the Premier League and the LaLiga. He’ll help our team in the game building and in the transition game. We are very pleased to welcome him to HSV,”
“I was warmly welcomed here, and can’t wait to work with these nice people,” said “Sambi” after signing the contract. “I am a team player. I really want to help the team with my qualities.”
Lokonga will wear the number 6 at his new club. According to Transfermarkt, the transfer fee is €3 million. The newly-promoted Bundesliga club are also working on Fábio Vieira’s transfer from the North London club.
