Since leaving Napoli as a free agent, Dries Mertens has been without a club. Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri has shown interest in reuniting with his former protege this summer.
According to transfer market expert Alfredo Pedulla, Salernitana have submitted an offer to sign Dries Mertens on a free transfer.
The Salerno-based side is interested in signing the forward in a two-year deal worth €3.5 million.
The player has received multiple offers from teams across the globe but has not decided on joining a particular club yet. He will evaluate the offers in the coming days before making his next move in the market.
The 35-year-old, nicknamed “Ciro”, has been in regular talks with his former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri, who remains keen on getting the experienced campaigner on board.
However, it is understood that the Roman side has not made any concrete push in the potential pursuit of the Belgium international.
