Roman Reigns Returns to a Staggering Pop on WWE Raw

For the first time in nearly three months, Roman Reigns is back in WWE – and fans who were lucky enough to be in attendance for his triumphant return absolutely loved it.

The 40-year-old last appeared on television on the 21st of April edition of Raw, where he was taken out by Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker while seeking revenge on Paul Heyman for betraying him at WrestleMania 41.

Reigns will have to wait to get his hands on Seth after ‘The Visionary’ suffered a serious knee injury at Saturday Night’s Main Event this past weekend. However, he still has his sights set on Heyman’s other henchmen, Breakker and Bronson Reed as he proved after making his presence known in the closing moments of Raw.

The main event of the show saw CM Punk pin Breakker to win a gauntlet match and earn a shot at Gunther’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam. Punk’s celebration, though, was short-lived as he was ambushed by Breakker and Reed after the match.

Although Jey Uso tried to help ‘The Second City Saint’, the pair were thwarted by their much larger foes. Just as the stage was set for Reed to deliver a crushing Tsunami from the top rope, Reigns’ music hit and the Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama came unglued.

Roman Reigns Returned to WWE Raw to Help His Cousin Jey Uso

The duo look set to team at SummerSlam next month

The reaction from the live crowd was just spine-tingling, making for one of the most memorable WWE moments of the year so far. Heyman did all he could to sell the magnitude of the moment, as he covered his mouth in shock as soon as the first note of Roman’s music hit.

While not officially announced, Reigns’ actions straight after making the save heavily hinted at what his first match back is likely to be. Once he had taken out, Breakker and Reed, ‘The OTC1’ helped Jey back to his feet.

Seth Rollins’ Legitimate Knee Injury at Saturday Night’s Main Event

It was a night to forget for Seth Rollins after suffering a legitimate injury.

With Rollins out of action for the foreseeable future, a tag team match featuring Roman and Jey against Breakker and Reed at SummerSlam would seem to be the most logical match-up for the premium live event, which takes place across the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd of August.

Though Reigns was quick to help Jey, the same wasn’t true for Punk. The pair have had a rivalry ever since Punk returned to WWE after a near-decade-long absence – and despite facing off as part of a Triple Threat match (also involving Rollins) at WrestleMania 41, the bad blood between them still exists. Failing to offer any assistance to the fallen Punk, Reigns simply locked eyes with the Chicago native, potentially foreshadowing another battle later in the year.

Punk would eventually make his own way back to his feet. With himself, Roman and Jey all stood in the middle of the ring, the crowd continued to serenade the returning hero by chanting his name.

Reigns may have set up several possible matches in his comeback appearance, but full details of his schedule moving forward have yet to be revealed. Well known to be under a part-time contract, Roman may not be back for long. However, fans are intent upon enjoying him while he is around.
