Serie A giants Roma didn’t have the greatest ending to their summer transfer window. Moves for Jadon Sancho and Tyrique George failed over the last week, when manager Gian Piero Gasperini was looking for signings to bolster the squad.
Corriere dello Sport report today that the Italian has been making it clear publicly that he wants signings that increase the quality of Roma’s squad overall. They signed Leon Bailey and several other players but Gasperini believes that none of the arrivals improve what Roma already have.
Evan Ferguson has impressed, but he is yet to become a sureshot starter. Daniele Ghilardi is a young talent but Gasperini doesn’t see him as a key player.
The manager believes that some promises have been left unfulfilled in the summer, as the club faced FFP restrictions, with vice-president Ryan had assured Gasp during a meeting in Liverpool that he would receive something other than the arrival of Bailey alone.
That hasn’t happened and there are strains in the relationship between the manager and Ricky Massara. There are no signs of immediate exits as Gasperini believes that he is at a club which respects him a lot.
