Roma boss Mourinho after Real Betis draw: “Abraham-Belotti pairing was a disaster in the first half”

Roma boss Jose Mourinho has stated that the pairing of Tammy Abraham and Andrea Belotti was a disaster in the first half against Real Betis.

The Giallorossi were held to a 1-1 draw in Spain and are third in the Europa League group, with their hopes of making it to the next round of the competition now in uncertainty. Sergio Canales had scored in the first half for Betis and Andrea Belotti had equalised in the second half.

After the game, Mourinho spoke to Sky (via TMW) about the game and he revealed that the pairing of Belotti and Abraham was a disaster in the first 45 minutes.

“In the first half it was a disaster. They didn’t do what I asked them. They went out with red ears because I urged them so much. In the second half, good, not only for the goal, but also because they worked together, in the second half I liked them a lot.”

Belotti did have a goal disallowed in the first half – well before he scored the equaliser. Abraham’s goalscoring form has been poor for the Giallorossi, with the Englishman having scored only two goals in all competitions and the player is yet to score in Serie A.
