Following the Giallorossi’s 1-0 victory over Bologna within their first match back from the break, Roma defender Roger Ibanez provided his thoughts on the match against the Rossoblu.
Mourinho’s squad scored the sole goal within the sixth minute on the clock as central midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini converted a penalty after Paulo Dybala was fouled inside the box.
With the capital club securing all three points at the Stadio Olimpico, Roma find themselves on level terms with cross-city rivals Lazio with 30 points each.
While speaking to the media, as relayed by Tuttomercatoweb, Ibanez gave his insight on the fine start to the new year:
“It was the goal to start 2023 like this. It was very important to start with a win, the team was good at defending up front as well. Even the forwards were good. All matches are of a level. We must always play with the will to win. It will be another difficult match but we must enter with the right mindset to win.”
