Revealed: When Xavi could announce his early departure from Barcelona

Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernández is giving serious consideration to bringing forward his departure from the bench in Catalunya’s capital.

That’s according to the latest reports stemming from the Spanish media on Monday.

The subject of Xavi’s future has of course returned to the forefront of the headlines in a major way over the course of the last 24 hours.

This comes after a brief return to form on the part of the Spaniard’s Barcelona was brought to a screeching halt, by way of a 3-3 La Liga stalemate with relegation-battling Granada.

As much has since given rise to widespread anger in Catalunya, with president Joan Laporta understood to have completely lost his composure in the directors’ box at Montjuïc last night.

In turn, murmurs have begun to spread in the media, that Xavi could yet be sent on his way prior to his planned exit from the Barca hot seat in the summer.

As revealed by Diario AS on Monday, though, Laporta and co. may not even need to worry themselves with such action.

This comes with Xavi himself now understood to be considering stepping down from his post over the coming weeks.

Should he fail to guide the Blaugrana beyond Serie A champions Napoli in the Last-16 of the Champions League, the former midfielder is said to have made it clear that he ‘will not continue’.

‘The coach has always made it very clear that he will never be a problem at the club, so if he sees that the best solution is for him to leave early, he will do so without any problem,’ it is added.
